Joss Whedon's X-Men stories are highly-regarded and rightly so. For my money, he's the best writer the X-Men have had, even surpassing Grant Morrison.
This collection of stories features a fun cameo from the Fantastic Four and some well-written character development for Scott Summers, who has to cope with his evolving relationships with Emma Frost and Professor Xavier.
But the character with the most interesting story is Kitty Pryde, who Whedon clearly adores. She's never been written better than this.
The main storyline involves the Danger Room coming to life and attacking the X-Men. There are some horrific moments but the villain isn't as interesting as it should be and the whole thing is slightly reminiscent of those Star Trek stories where the holodeck does something strange. Hence, I'm only giving it four stars, but it's still highly recommended.
